Our Story

A rebellion against the ordinary.

Every publishing house has a story. Ours starts with a simple belief: that great books shouldn't be squeezed into narrow boxes, and that authors deserve a true partner, not just a royalty cheque.

Hanscombe Books was born from founder Chazic Hanscombe's firsthand experience on both sides of the publishing fence. After five years as a ghostwriter, working on over 70 projects across countless genres and categories, Chazic saw the industry's blind spots up close. Traditional houses offered prestige but strangled creativity with catalogues that were rigid and afraid of risk. Self publishing offered freedom but left authors isolated, drowning in logistics with no marketing engine behind them.

There had to be a third way.

So Hanscombe Books was built as that third way: a publishing house that refuses to limit its authors, yet still delivers the professional infrastructure, design, and marketing muscle that a book needs to truly find its readers. We don't believe in "flavour of the month" marketing. We believe in continuous promotion focused on real value for every title on our list, not just the top two.

What We Stand For

Three things we won't compromise on.

💡

Actionable wisdom over empty words

We gravitate toward books that actually do something for the reader. No self help fluff. No recycled platitudes. Whether it's nonfiction that changes behaviour or fiction that reimagines a genre, we want work that leaves a mark.

🔭

Underrepresented voices, fresh perspectives

We champion the eclectic, the unconventional, and the scientifically curious. If your idea has been overlooked elsewhere, you'll find a home here.

🤝

A true 50/50 partnership

We don't offer advances. Instead we offer something rarer: an even 50% royalty split on every single sale, because your intellectual labour is worth exactly as much as our publishing labour. We also guide our authors on their own marketing efforts, because a book succeeds best when author and publisher row in the same direction.
